Nordisk, Zig Zag in Strategic Alliance

CANNES, October 8:
Scandinavian production outfit Nordisk Film TV has entered into a strategic
alliance with British production outfit Zig Zag Productions, kicking off with the
U.K. pilot co-production of the new game show Bias.

The alliance will see the
two companies exchanging formats and ideas to take advantage of their strengths
in their respective markets.

The pilot for Bias will be shot at Nordisk’s Oslo studios this
October and is being partly financed by an as-yet-unnamed British terrestrial.
International rights will be managed by Nordisk Film’s new international
division, Nordisk Film TV World, headed by international director Karoline
Spodsberg. The pilot will be executive produced by Zig Zag’s head of
development, Ben Paul.

Bias examines prejudices based on age, occupation,
education or appearance. Contestants ask questions such as, how many students
would cut off a toe for a million dollars? Or, how many chefs have spat in a
customer’s food? If participants can guess what the answers to those questions
are, based on a rotating panel—who one day could be supermodels, the next
day priests—they win a cash prize.
