Nordisk Snaps Up SVT’s Format Catalogue

COPENHAGEN, March 7:
Nordisk Film TV World has been named the official distributor of all of SVT’s
formats, more than doubling the Scandinavian distributor’s format catalogue.

For MIPTV, Nordisk will
launch ten prime-time entertainment formats, five scripted and comedy formats
and five children’s formats from SVT for international buyers. Among the
offerings is Melody Challenge,
an event-driven talent show that is looking for a nation’s best song. Also in
the portfolio is Doobidoo, a
feel-good sing-a-long series that is the only format in the world to
consistently post higher rating shares than American Idol in a head-to-head competition.

Karoline Spodsberg, the
international director of Nordisk Film TV World, commented: “We are very
pleased to have the opportunity to sell SVT’s formats internationally. SVT has
a long tradition of creating innovative and commercial shows—they were
the first broadcaster to produce and air the hugely successful format Survivor. We are sure that we can tap this potential and
get the optimum international audience for these formats, which reflect the
very best of Scandinavian programming.”
