Nominees Announced for Rockies Program Competition

TORONTO: The Banff World Media Festival has unveiled the full list of nominees for its annual Rockies Program Competition, which celebrates the "best of the best" in international television and digital content.

There are five categories in the kids and animation arena. Larva (South Korea), Poppety in the Fall (France, Canada), Room on the Broom (U.K.) and The Snowman and the Snowdog (U.K.) are nominated for best animation program. SpongeBob SquarePants (U.S.), The Penguins of Madagascar (U.S.), The Snowman and the Snowdog (U.K.) and Wolfblood (U.K., Germany) are up for best fiction program for kids 2+. In the children’s non-fiction category the nominees are Rainbow Hands (U.K.), Earth to Future (Germany), Nick News with Linda Ellerbee (U.S.) and The Kamaishi Miracle (Japan). Up for the award for best non-fiction youth program are Bente’s Voice (Netherlands), My Father (Netherlands), Stefpacking (Germany) and Soul Birds (Germany). Contenders for youth fiction program are Baron Muenchhausen (Germany), Degrassi (Canada), Heartland (Scandinavia) and Mimoun (Netherlands).

For continuing series, The Big C, The Following and House of Cards are the U.S. contenders, facing off against Canada’s Bomb Girls. For sitcoms it’s Community (U.S.), Peep Show (U.K.), Quiz Me Quick (Belgium, Netherlands) and Seed (Canada). The nominees for best mini-series are Death of a Pilgrim (Sweden), Hatfields and McCoys (U.S.), Man from the Equator (South Korea) and Restless (U.K.). The soap opera and telenovela nominees are 30 Lives (Canada), Hotel Caesar (Norway), Princess and I (Philippines) and Tricky Business (Brazil).
