Nominations In for Rose d’Or Awards

GENEVA: This year’s Rose d’Or Awards cover the categories of game show, reality and factual entertainment, sitcom, comedy, entertainment and arts, with the winners to be named on May 30 in Brussels.

The U.S. game show Oh Sit! is facing off with Germany’s Joko against Klaas: The Duel around the World and Spain’s Smart Face for the award for best game show. The reality and factual entertainment nominees are Derren Brown: Apocalypse Part 1 and Make Bradford British from the U.K., along with Jobs without Frontiers from Belgium.

The U.K. swept the sitcom category, with Spy, The Thick of It and Twenty Twelve. The comedy contenders are the U.K.’s Cardinal Burns and The Revolution Will Be Televised as well as Belgium’s What if?

Up for the best entertainment award are The Dino Show from the Netherlands, Let’s Dance for Sport Relief from the U.K. and Gruen Sweat from Australia. The U.K. notched up two nominations for arts programming, for Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender and London: The Modern Babylon, with Austria’s Just Ballet rounding out the nominees in the category.
