Nine Makes New Appointments

SYDNEY: Nine Network in Australia has announced three appointments to its senior production management team.

David Mason will serve as head of development, responsible for developing and overseeing new programs. Janine Cooper joins Nine as head of entertainment. Currently the head of factual programming, John McAvoy is exiting the network. Karen Dewey, the current head of lifestyle and reality, is to then assume responsibility for the network’s factual portfolio. She will now serve as head of factual and reality.

"I’ve loved my time at Nine and wish David Gyngell, Michael Healy and their teams every success," said McAvoy. "After 18 years with the network I’m looking forward to taking a bit of a break."

Michael Healy, Nine Network’s director of programming, commented: “We’re sorry to see John go. He has been a significant member of our programming department over the last four years. We wish him all the best and support his decision.”

“I am pleased to announce the appointments of David and Janine, as well as Karen’s newly expanded role,” Healy added. “They each bring a wealth of experience to their roles and I am delighted that they will apply their considerable talent and knowledge across our production slate.”
