Nielsen Expects Large Increase in U.S. Hispanic TV Homes

NEW YORK: The number of Hispanic TV homes will rise by some 3.07 percent to reach 13.35 million in the 2010-2011 season, according to Nielsen.

Nielsen notes that 40 percent of new U.S. TV homes will be Hispanic households. The gains outpace the 0.87-percent increase (1 million homes) for the upcoming season.

Nielsen is also forecasting modest increases in African American households, to 14.07 million, and Asian households, to 4.81 million. The total number of television homes for the 2010-2011 season is estimated at 115.9 million.
