BURBANK: The Nickelodeon Writing Program (NWP) has announced the finalists for the 2015-16 program.

NWP invites aspiring writers, who are 18 or older, to submit writing samples based on half-hour TV series that have been on the air for more than one season and are being produced for prime time network or cable. Participants are able to interact with executives and receive hands-on experience writing spec scripts and pitching story ideas. They also have the opportunity to meet Nickelodeon's series creators, work in writers' rooms, attend show tapings and more. The program offers aspiring television writers with diverse backgrounds and experiences the chance to hone their skills while writing for Nickelodeon's live-action and animation shows, and reportedly receives more than 1,400 applications each year.

This year’s finalists on the domestic side are Katie Gill (Family Guy), Charlie Neuner (Archer), Michael Salomon (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), Jeffrey Trammell (The League) and Robert Woo (Brooklyn Nine-Nine). On the international side, the finalists are Milla Tuokkola (Parks and Recreation) and Adam Lavis (Curb Your Enthusiasm).

Alumni from the Nickelodeon Writing Program include Gabriel Garza and Jonathan Butler, the creators of Nickelodeon's original live-action comedy series Bella and the Bulldogs.
