Nickelodeon Rolls Out Live-Action Mermaid Series

NEW YORK, March 4:
Nickelodeon in the U.S will introduce the new live-action, magical mermaid
adventure series H2O with an
hour-long movie on March 14 at 8 p.m., followed by the series premiere on March
16 at 7:30 p.m.

H2O was shot on location in the Gold Coast Region of
Queensland, Australia, and features three 16-year-old girls who are average
teens on land, but extraordinary mermaids with magical powers under the sea.
The show is distributed internationally by ZDF Enterprises. The one-hour movie
will set up the story, as the girls venture into an ancient cave and swim
through an underwater channel that causes something magical to happen. In the
weekly series, the girls must continue to hide their secret, deal with bullies
and risk their lives to rescue others. H2O will air regularly on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. on
Nickelodeon.

"H2O is a great fit with our TEENick programming, with its hefty combination of
aspirational adventure, magic and great relatable characters," said
Marjorie Cohn, the executive VP of original programming and development for
Nickelodeon Networks. "Nickelodeon viewers will fall in love with Emma,
Cleo and Rikki as they adjust to their newfound powers while trying to keep two
feet on the ground."
