NHK Acquires Flight 29 Down

WOODLAND HILLS: NHK Broadcasting in Japan has picked up Showcase Entertainment’s live-action kids’ adventure series Flight 29 Down to air the series starting September 29 on NHK ETV.

The 30×30-minute series follows the adventures of a group of kids who crash land on a deserted island. They must learn not only to survive the elements, but also to survive each other. Flight 29 Down features High School Musical‘s Corbin Bleu. The series is produced by Hawaii Film Partners and executive produced by Stan Rogow (Lizzie Maguire).

"We couldn’t be more pleased to be working with NHK on Flight 29 Down," said Showcase Entertainment’s head of sales, Scott Bedno. "The fact that so few English-language programs are acquired for free television in Japan is a true testament to the quality of the series."

"We are pleased to be able to offer Flight 29 Down on NHK ETV (Educational Television) to our audiences who have long been enjoying our existing slot’s various foreign drama series," commented NHK’s programming department producer, Noriko Aratani. "We hope that they enjoy the series."
