NGCI, NHNZ in Co-Pro Deal

WASHINGTON, D.C.: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) has signed on to co-produce the new eight-part series Bite Me with Dr. Mike Leahy with NHNZ.

The series follows the Dr. as he scours the globe for some of the most bizarre, and tiniest, killers in the animal kingdom. A virologist by trade, Dr. Mike travels to popular tourist destinations to learn more about the lethal creatures who call these places home. A co-production with Travel Channel, the series is also due to premiere in the U.S. mid-year.

"Our crew were given the task of shooting a transmissible pilot," said NHNZ’s executive producer, Andrew Waterworth. "What they came back with was so engaging and impressive, that the series quickly morphed into eight hours of programming that features a whole new style set to satisfy the most ardent travel junkie."

"Bite Me with Dr. Mike Leahy represents another fruitful partnership for NGCI and NHNZ," commented Sydney Suissa, the executive VP of content for NGCI. "Dr. Mike has an infectious enthusiasm for the creatures that make your skin crawl, and his vast knowledge about these creepy-crawlies combined with a dynamic personality is certain to make him a viewer favorite."
