NGCI, Fox International Channels, Partner for Earth Day Campaign

WASHINGTON, March 20:
National Geographic Channels International

(NGCI) has partnered with
FOX International Channels (FIC) for a special Earth Day multimedia initiative
on April 22 that includes the broadcast of environmental programs like Jean-Michel
Cousteau’s Ocean Adventures.

The initiative aims to
raise awareness about important environmental issues and motivate viewers to
find ways to help the planet. As part of the initiative, NGCI will present a
selection of its best environmental programming such as Jean-Michel
Cousteau’s Ocean Adventures
, MegaTransect and Strange Days on Planet Earth on it’s the NGC, National Geographic HD, Nat Geo
Wild and A1 channels. The A1 channel will also air a brand new special, Kokua
Festival 2006
, which highlights an
environmentally-themed festival that features musicians such as Jack Johnson,
Ben Harper and Willie Nelson.

In addition, NGCI will
feature a special Earth Day graphics package and vignettes filmed with National
Geographic explorers-in-residence such as Sylvia Earle and Beverly and Dereck
Joubert, and emerging explorers like Enric Sala from Spain and Mark Lynas of
the U.K. The channel has also created a dedicated Earth Day Micro site, which
will include a user-generated video and photography site, allowing visitors to
share clips and pictures of conservation activity.

Beyond programming, NGCI
regional offices will create local content and host events in celebration of
Earth Day such as tree plantings, internal carbon neutral trainings and local
expert question and answer sessions.
