New TLC Docu-Series Spotlights Child Beauty Pageants

NEW YORK, November 20: Toddlers and Tiaras, a new series that
gives a behind-the-scenes look into the world of child beauty pageants, will
premiere on TLC in late January.

Each week, the series will
look at the demanding lifestyles of young pageant participants. The hour-long
episodes will profile a number of contestants from all different ages and
backgrounds, as well as the stage moms and dads who are pushing them to
succeed. Toddlers and Tiaras will
feature the modern aspects of the youth pageant scene, from hair extensions and
spray tanning to mixing boys into the competition.

"The appeal and
success of Little Miss Sunshine
illustrates that this competitive world really exists," said Howard Lee,
the VP of production for TLC. "These children and their parents pour so
much energy into wanting to win—and it's fascinating to watch."
