Supermodel Iman to Host Project Runway Canada

TORONTO, June 1: Iman, a
supermodel and the wife of David Bowie, will host Project Runway Canada, which is scheduled to premiere on Slice network
in Canada this fall.

Produced by Insight
Production Company, Project Runway
Canada
is the Canadian adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning
U.S. series, which was developed by Miramax and The Weinstein Company for the
Bravo network. FremantleMedia Enterprises licensed the Project Runway format to Slice and Insight. The Canadian format
version will find 12 designers competing for the chance to show collections at
a premiere fashion event this fall. One designer will win the top prize of $100,000
to begin their own fashion line and a feature spread showing their winning
collection in the pages of the country’s foremost fashion magazine.

Iman was born in Somalia and is the daughter of an African
diplomat. She began her modelling
career in 1975, after she was discovered by legendary photographer Peter Beard
while attending Nairobi University. After her first modelling assignment for
Vogue in 1976, Iman became a muse for designers such as Yves Saint Laurent,
Versace, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan. During her 14 years as a model, she
worked with photographers such as Helmut Newton, Richard Avedon, Irving Penn
and Annie Leibovitz. Iman also runs her own global beauty company and is also
actively involved in several charities, including The Children’s Defense Fund,
For All Kids Foundation, and Action Against Hunger.

“Iman is one of the most
successful and beautiful supermodels of all-time and to have her as host of Project
Runway Canada
is an absolute
dream,” said Vanessa Case, the VP of content for Slice at Alliance Atlantis Communications. “Our viewers really connected with her as a guest
judge on the U.S. series, and we know that they, along with the competitors,
will be thrilled by this announcement. If by chance she happens to reveal the
secret that keeps her as beautiful as ever during the process, we’ll just
consider that a bonus!”
