New TLC Doc Spotlights Plane-Crash Survivors

LONDON: Darlow Smithson Productions has been commissioned by TLC to produce Plane Crash Survivors, a one-off documentary that tells the stories of people who have survived aviation disasters.

The 45-minute project uses archive footage of actual crashes, interviews with the survivors and personal photographs and footage of their lives today. The doc explores the emotional trauma and life-changing impact the events have had on the survivors and their lives today. Plane Crash Survivors is a Darlow Smithson production for TLC. It is executive produced by Viv McGrath for Darlow Smithson. It is executive produced by Sandra Brown for TLC.

Viv McGrath, executive producer for Darlow Smithson Productions, said: “Plane Crash Survivors are members of an exclusive club none of them ever wished to join. The terrifying trauma of the crash; the feelings of guilt as to why they survived when others died; the years of recovery—are experiences that only they can truly understand. But a plane crash can also trigger a life-changing transformation in survivors’ lives and their stories can inspire us all.”
