New Sales for Donald Glover’s Atlanta

LONDON: FOX Networks Group Content Distribution (FNGCD) has secured additional sales for Atlanta, the Golden Globe-winning coming-of-age comedy created by and starring Donald Glover.

FNGCD has closed deals for Atlanta with SBS in Australia; Sky in New Zealand; Orange in France; BeTV in Belgium and Luxembourg; DBS in Israel; and Playco Entertainment, iflix and STARZ Play in the Middle East. In addition, the series is selling well in the inflight market around the world, with new deals concluded with several major airlines, including British Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Cathay Pacific.

Atlanta centers on Earnest “Earn” (Glover), a loner who returns to his hometown of Atlanta after dropping out of Princeton and begins to manage his cousin Alfred (Bryan Tyree Henry), who has become the city’s hottest new rap act. Season two of Atlanta will return in 2018.

Prentiss Fraser, the executive VP and managing director of FOX Networks Group Content Distribution, commented, “Atlanta is an extraordinary show and seals Donald Glover’s reputation as one of the most talented young writers and actors working in the industry today. It is very different to most of the comedy series in the market, but it resonates perfectly with millennial audiences and stands out for its brilliant story lines, beautiful production values and the excellent scripts. We are delighted that so many broadcasters are looking to Atlanta to meet the needs of their audience and we are confident that the boost given by the two Golden Globe awards, as well as the news of a second season in the pipeline, will ensure further sales.”
