New Output Deals for Discovery

CANNES: A combined 200 hours of content from across Discovery’s portfolio of networks is to air on third-party European broadcasters through a range of deals secured by Discovery Communications.

In France, an output deal has been secured with TF1’s free digital terrestrial channels NT1 and TMC for the latest seasons of popular series such as Deadliest Catch and Man vs. Wild. Italy’s RTI-Mediaset Group confirmed a volume deal for factual entertainment programming, including I Was Bitten and Untamed and Uncut. The shows will air on Italia Uno in the network’s Wild prime-time slot. Spain’s La Sexta went for factual science titles, including Next World, Destroyed in Seconds and Prototype This!. Spain’s Cuatro snapped up season four of Man v. Wild and the travel show Not Your Average Travel Guide. Alpha TV in Greece acquired the docudramas Nostradamous, The Flight that Fought Back and Last Mysteries of the Titanic.

“These deals represent our continued commitment to strengthening ongoing relationships with European broadcasters and forming new partnerships with third-party clients,” said Janice Strangward, the director of program sales for UK/EMEA at Discovery Enterprises International. “These deals allow us to extend Discovery’s vast programming library and breadth of nonfiction genres to an even wider European audience.”
