New Nick Jr. Series to Teach Mandarin

LOS ANGELES, July 16: This October, Nick Jr. will launch Ni Hao, Kai-Lan, a new half-hour interactive series that introduces
preschoolers to the Mandarin language.

The series, launching during Nickelodeon’s preschool block
on October 22, offers 2- to 5-year-olds the opportunity to learn Mandarin words
and phrases. The show focuses on a 5-year-old Chinese-American girl named Kai-lan.

"Blue's Clues, Dora
the Explorer
and Go, Diego Go! have clearly demonstrated how much kids love to
interact with beloved characters, as well as embrace new languages and
cultures,” said Brown Johnson, the executive VP and executive creative director
of Nickelodeon Preschool. “Karen Chau's stunning designs and stories about
growing up as a Chinese-American girl were inspirational in the creation of
this groundbreaking new series. Preschoolers will immerse themselves in
Kai-lan's rich Chinese-American heritage, while they learn Mandarin language
and relevant social-emotional skills. We can't wait for kids to see this
incredibly vibrant and playful world come to life."

Animation production for Ni Hao, Kai-lan is being done in conjunction with Wang Films and the
Wang Studio in Greater China.

Targeting older viewers is iCarly, a scripted series featuring user-generated content
that launches September 8. Slated to air in the TEENick block, the series stars Miranda Cosgrove, of Drake
& Josh
fame, as Carly Shay, who hosts
her own home-grown web show. Viewers are encouraged to participate on
icarly.com. iCarly is the newest
series from executive producer/creator Dan Schneider, whose credits include Zoey
101
and Drake & Josh.

"Hit-maker Dan Schneider has created a cutting-edge TV
show that integrates the web with the tube in a totally unique way," said
Marjorie Cohn, the executive VP of development and original programming at
Nickelodeon. "We have a rich history of putting kids in control with convergent
programming like the Kids' Choice Awards, SpongeBob's 'Best Day Ever' and ME:TV; iCarly
takes that kid empowerment strategy one step further."

Schneider added: "iCarly aims to give kids an unfiltered voice with Carly's webcast and by
showcasing kids' ideas, inventions and talents. It's a series that is intended
to involve real kids across America and illustrate how they are currently
experiencing entertainment."

In other news, Nickelodeon is premiering its new original
series, Nick Cannon's Star Camp, on July
22 exclusively on TurboNick, its broadband video player. Executive produced by
host Cannon, Quincy Jones and Quincy "QD3" Jones III, the show
selects and follows eight members of a new youth super-group hand-picked by
Cannon as they learn how to be stars. The series of five 15-minute episodes
will stream on TurboNick every Sunday, and the final performance will air in
Nickelodeon's TEENick block on
August 26.

"Streaming video has become a big part of how today's
multi-tasking generation of kids is experiencing entertainment,” Cohn said.
“Several of our properties like Mr. Meaty
and Avatar have developed a huge
following online, so introducing an original series to air exclusively on
TurboNick is the natural next step in super-serving our audience. We're especially
excited to be launching this series in collaboration with top talent like Nick
Cannon and Quincy Jones, who know how to connect with our audience on any
platform."
