New Motoring Show for Dave

LONDON: UKTV’s Dave has teamed up with Blink Films for the new series Driving Wars, which will recreate iconic motoring stunts from TV and film.

The 8×1-hour series will be hosted by Colin Murray. The show will use the latest in remote-control technology and robotics, pitting two rival teams of driving experts to take on car-related challenges. The teams will use an arcade-style simulator to take their real cars to the track for a series of challenges that recreate iconic Hollywood stunts. Driving Wars will be filmed on location in Suffolk, before premiering on Dave as part of its new-look fall schedule later this year.

Dave’s channel head, Steve North, said, “This is an especially exciting commission for us because it combines two key passions of many Dave viewers to create something really spectacular that looks and feels totally fresh. Motoring fans have high expectations, so we’ve really busted the budget to ensure our viewers love every minute of what’s going to be an exhilarating ride.”

Richard Watsham, UKTV’s commissioning editor, added, “This series allows us to recreate the thrills, spills and pyrotechnics of iconic motoring moments for real, but without any of the risks. Its been a long time in the making because it’s so ambitious, both in terms of the remote control technology and the actual challenges devised by Blink TV.”

Dan Chambers, Blink’s executive producer, commented, “What I love about this show is that we find out what happens when we give risk-taking drivers the chance to drive as recklessly as they want. It’s magnificent watching them on the run from the police, jumping over dozens of cars and being forced off the road by a juggernaut. And thanks to the remote control technology, no one gets hurt. What’s not to like?”
