New International Deals for Wipeout

LONDON: The extreme physical-challenge format Wipeout from Endemol is set to launch in more countries, bringing the total number of locally produced versions to 23.

Russia’s Channel One is set for a local treatment of Wipeout, which will be a co-production between Endemol Argentina and Moscow-based producer Red Square. The format will be filmed at Endemol’s international set in Argentina.

Endemol Worldwide Distribution has secured new deals for the U.K., U.S. and Australian versions of Wipeout as well. This includes deals for the U.S. version with the Nine Network in Australia, TV Barrandov in the Czech Republic, RTL in the Netherlands, AXN in India and Asia and Metropolitan TV in Malaysia. TV3 in New Zealand, NTN in Ukraine, TV3 in Lithuania and Fox in Serbia have all taken series from both Australia and the U.K. The U.K. version has also been picked up by Nelonen in Finland and 365 Media in Iceland.

In Central America, the show has recently premiered for a 13-episode run on Televisa in Mexico, while in Europe, 365 Media in Iceland has commissioned a 13-part series. This follows the recent news that ABC has ordered a third seaspm from Endemol USA.

Paul Römer, the chief creative officer of Endemol Group, commented: “Wipeout continues to splash down in new territories while securing second and third series around the world. This is a proven global hit and we are extremely pleased to be partnering with Channel One for a first series in Russia.”
