LONDON, June 30: Andrew Nicholson has been named executive producer for ITV Studios Factual (North) and in-house production team Shiver, while Sally Evans takes on the role of executive producer and head of development.

Both Nicholson and Evans will be based in Manchester, starting in July, and will report to Alexander Gardiner, the creative director of ITV Studios Factual (North) and Shiver.

Nicholson will oversee factual production for broadcasters across the industry. Evans will lead development for the entire division with both the Manchester- and London-based development teams reporting to her.

Prior to this, Nicholson was executive producer for the BBC, where he has overseen programming on a range of shows, including Antiques Master for BBC Two, Pop’s Greatest Dance Crazes, Young Talent of the Year and Beyond Walford for BBC Three. He also worked as executive producer at Shine for programs, including Band for Britain for BBC Two, Playing the Part for BBC One, The Naked Office for Virgin 1 and Banged Up for Five.

Evans had previously been freelancing for ITV as head of the Manchester development unit, and before that she was series producer for BBC series such as Street Doctor, Bank of Mum & Dad, Honey We’re Killing the Kids and Mastermind.

“We are very proud of the number and range of programs which we develop and produce in Manchester,” Gardiner said. “Our slate encompasses a wide breadth of ideas from Strictly Kosher to Little England. These latest appointments are a fantastic reflection of our growth in the region and I’m delighted to be welcoming both Andrew and Sally to ITVS Factual (North) & Shiver. Both bring to the team a huge breadth of experience in factual programs, which will be invaluable in continuing to grow our business in the region.”

Nicholson added, “This is a fantastic opportunity to join a hugely talented team committed to making great television in the North. The department is going from strength to strength and I’m looking forward to playing a part in their ongoing success story.”

Evans commented, ”I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working within this rapidly expanding department at ITV and I’m delighted that I’ll continue to be part of such a creative team who have the talent and ambition to carry on growing at a key moment in time for television production in the North.”
