New German Production Head at SPT

LONDON: Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has appointed Astrid Quentell as managing director and senior VP of production for Germany.

Christiane Ruff, the managing director and executive VP of SPT production in Germany, is leaving the company after 13 years. Quentell steps in to oversee the ongoing development of SPT’s German production activities across scripted and non-scripted programming as well as exploiting opportunities to adapt international formats to the local market.

Quentell will take up the new position in Cologne later this year. She will report to Kees Abrahams, the president of international production for SPT. Quentell has been creative director for Eyeworks Germany since September 2005, developing original content for exploitation in German and international markets. Before this she was COO at Tresor TV and has held senior positions at Kabel 1, tm3 and ProSieben.

Abrahams said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Astrid to lead our German production business. Astrid brings with her a wealth of experience creatively and commercially which I know will serve our production business well as we look to further expand our activities in this market.”

Abrahams added: “I would also like to thank Christiane for her commitment and hard work over the past 13 years and to wish her the very best in her new endeavors.”
