TOKYO: Yukihiko Amagi has retired from his post as executive VP of NHK Enterprises (NEP), with Shigeru Aoki now taking on oversight of the Japanese public broadcaster’s international-distribution activities.

Amagi had previously run NHK’s MICO (Media International Corporation) division, which was combined with NEP in 2010 to create a central hub for NHK’s international distribution and co-production activities. With his retirement, NEP corporate officer Shigeru Aoki takes the reins as executive VP.

In other NHK news, Fumio Narashima has become the head of its Copyright and Archives Center. A key mandate is the redesign of NHK’s archive system so that video content (which will include NHK’s coverage of the recent earthquake) can be used locally and internationally. Narashima was previously the head of international program development at NHK, a post now held by Kazumasa Iida.
