New Doc Series on Missing Hispanics to Premiere on LAT-TV

HOUSTON, October 18: Desaparecidos, a new weekly one-hour television series featuring real-life cases of
missing Hispanics in the U.S., will premiere on Tuesday, October 23, on
LAT-TV’s 22-market network, along with additional clearances across the U.S.

Co-produced by LAT-TV, the
program, consisting of 29 episodes, will air every Tuesday at 9 p.m.
Award-winning journalist Marian de la Fuente, formerly with Telenoticias and
the Telemundo International network, will host Desaparecidos. The program informs audiences about facts and
circumstances surrounding unsolved missing person cases (primarily children),
providing viewer education and safety tips. The show aims to alert the
community in an effort to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.

In addition to LAT-TV
stations, the program has been cleared by Miami’s WGEN–TV CH 8, which
will broadcast the show on Sundays at 9 p.m., and on various ALTERNA’TV
channels. It is also presently being cleared in many other major markets across
the U.S., with further expansion planned for New York, California and Puerto
Rico.

LAT-TV has also secured an
exclusive online partnership with AOL Latino for the series. AOL Latino will
launch an interactive website that provides a forum for the Latino community to
discuss cases and issues raised by the program. Located at www.desaparecidos.aol.com,
the site goes live on October 23 and will showcase highlights from the show,
vital resource information about missing persons, and updates on the cases.

“Our responsibility as
media is to go beyond television,” stated Patricia Torres-Burd, the executive
VP of programming and branding at LAT-TV. “If with Desaparecidos, we not only educate but hopefully assist in the finding of a child,
we have more than done our job. A large part of the program is dedicated to
providing information on what we can all learn to keep our loved ones safe.”
