SYDNEY: A week since ousting Grant Blackley, Ten Network has appointed a new CEO, James Warburton, who joins the broadcaster from rival Seven Media Group.

Lachlan Murdoch was named acting CEO while Ten searched for a new chief. Warburton takes on his new role July 14. Warburton has held the role of chief sales and digital officer of Seven Media Group since July 2008. "James is a high caliber media executive with an enviable track record in television and digital media sales," said Brian Long, chairman of Ten Holdings. "He has forged an exemplary reputation in the media sector in Australia and has strong relationships within the media and advertising community.”

The management shakeup was accompanied by news that James Packer is stepping down from the Ten board of directors. Ten has also named a new CFO, Paul Anderson, who succeeds John Kelly.
