STOCKHOLM: Svetlana Vassileva takes on the role of CEO for Modern Times Group’s (MTG) Bulgarian channels under the Nova Televizia Group.

Vassileva will lead a group that includes Nova Televizia, the Diema channel family and Nova Sport as well as MTG’s four pay-TV channels. She will succeed Jacob Andersson, who has been CEO of Diema Vision since April 2008 and of Nova Televizia since October 2008. Vassileva joins the company as of November 15, assuming her new post as of January 1. Andersson will continue in a new position in the company.

MTG owns 95 percent of the Nova Televizia group, while Apace Media holds a 5-percent minority interest in the combined entity.

Anders Nilsson, the chairman of the board of Nova Televizia group and COO of MTG, commented: “Svetlana Vassileva has successfully been heading a number of TV channels in Bulgaria, from Triada to bTV, Fox Life, Fox Crime and TV7. Her track record makes her the perfect choice to take MTG’s TV channels in Bulgaria to the next level.”

Nilsson added: “I would also like to thank Jacob Andersson for his untiringly hard work in Bulgaria with the merger of Diema Vision and Nova Televizia. He will continue within MTG in a new position. The hiring of a local executive director is in line with MTG’s strategy to have top local management in place everywhere we operate.”
