New CEO at AGICOA

GENEVA: Rights-management collection organization AGICOA has appointed Paul Duggan as its CEO, effective immediately.

Duggan was previously CEO of consultancy firm Intermedia Partners, and for the last ten years has advised corporations and governments in Europe, Asia and the Middle East on understanding the media marketplace, developing and establishing policy and business initiatives for media and technology products and services. Prior to Intermedia he established and ran a group of successful companies in television, print and the Internet. He has also has been involved in several pan-European trade and industry organizations.

“I am conscious of the challenges in a rapidly evolving media environment,” said Duggan. “We are looking forward to AGICOA celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2011. Currently, digital technology is transforming the media landscape and adding new dimensions to broadcasting in choice, content and re-broadcast platforms. This offers huge potential for growth and revenue opportunities, and the associated challenges for rightsholders in tracking secondary use of their products.

He continued: “At AGICOA we are committed to obtaining, collecting and distributing the royalties that lie beyond the reach of individual rightsholders, and that is my focus as CEO of the organization.”

John Jacobsen, the president of AGICOA, added, “Paul’s experience and expert knowledge of media and technology will be an undoubted asset to our association and we warmly welcome him to AGICOA.”
AGICOA organizes the international collection of rights payments from the re-transmission of programming on cable and satellite.
