New CBBC Show to Make MIPTV Debut

DUBLIN: The new CBBC commission Roy, an HD series that combines hand-drawn animation with real-world drama, will make its MIPTV debut in JAM Media’s catalogue.

Premiering this fall, Roy features a cartoon boy living in the real world. Each of the 13 half-hour episodes present Roy, his family and friends, and the unique situations that arise as ge settles into a new town. Roy is part comedy, part fly-on-the-wall documentary. Commissioned by CBBC and executive produced by Sue Nott, Roy was shot in HD but also available in standard definition. Format licenses are also available.

The controller of CBBC, Anne Gilchrist, said: “I’ve loved the idea of Roy from the moment I heard about it – it’s funny, poignant and totally mesmerising to see how an animated boy copes with living in a world of real people. This drama has real relevance to children and deals warmly with the bemusing situation of being a ‘fish out of water’.”
