New Broadcaster Signs On for Pangea Day

MEXICO CITY, May 2: U.S. Spanish-language network Once México  has joined the roster of global broadcasters set to air Pangea Day, the four-hour event taking place on May 10.

The event links venues in Cairo, London, Los Angeles, Kigali, Mumbai and Rio de Janeiro in a global broadcast featuring films, speakers and music. The 24 short films to be featured have been selected from an international competition that generated more than 2,500 submissions from more than 100 countries. At least five of the scheduled films come from Latin American, U.S. Hispanic, Spanish or Portuguese directors, representing fiction, non-fiction and animation. The program also includes a number of well-known presenters and musical performers, including Queen Noor of Jordan, CNN correspondent Christiane Amanpour, Bob Geldof and Iranian rock artist Hypernova.

Once México will air the films with Spanish subtitles. The network currently has national distribution through DIRECTV and carriage through cable and telecommunications providers such as Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Charter, RCN and Qwest.
