NBCU Television Studio Names New Heads for Comedy, Drama

UNIVERSAL CITY, June 12: NBC Universal Television Studio has
promoted Elisa Roth to the position of senior VP of drama programming, and
Vernon Sanders to senior VP of comedy series.

Both will report to Katherine Pope, the newly appointed
president of NBC Universal Television Studio.

In her new role as the senior VP of drama programming, Roth
will oversee the development and current series creative affairs for all of the
studio's drama programs for broadcast television. She was promoted from the
position of VP of drama for NBC Universal Television Studio, where she oversaw
NBC's hit Heroes and the critically
acclaimed Friday Night Lights, as
well as the new NBC drama Bionic Woman. Prior to that, Roth was the VP of drama programming at Universal
Network Television and was on the team responsible for developing House.
She also oversaw the dramas American
Dreams
and The District. Roth joined Universal from David E. Kelley
Productions.

In his new role of VP of comedy series, Sanders will be
responsible for overseeing the studio's comedy development and current series
slate. He'll now oversee the studio's critically hailed comedy 30 Rock and NBC's new mid-season comedy The IT
Crowd
, among other projects on the air and
in development. He was promoted from the position of VP of comedy series, where
he was responsible for the creative supervision of the studio's various comedy
programs, and most recently oversaw the development of The CW's new comedy Aliens
in America
. Prior to that, he had served as
the VP of comedy programming for Universal Network Television after joining
Universal in December 2002 as the executive director of comedy programming. In
that position, Sanders oversaw the development of the Emmy-winning comedy The
Office
as well as the comedy series Complete
Savages,
produced by Oscar winner Mel
Gibson.
