NBC Re-Ups Summer Series Franchises

BURBANK, August 7: NBC’s summer hits America’s Got Talent and Last Comic Standing will be returning next year for a third and sixth
season respectively.

“Both of these innovative series have proven to be summer
staples and important franchises for NBC,” said Craig Plestis, the executive VP
of alternative programming, development and specials at NBC Entertainment. “We
have the most watched show in America’s Got Talent, and one of the most upscale series in Last
Comic Standing
, and now viewers can look
forward to seeing these popular brand series with fresh new shows again next
summer.”

America’s Got Talent,
produced by FremantleMedia North America and Simon Cowell’s SYCO TV, is the
summer’s top series in prime time with 12.1 million viewers. It has averaged a
3.6 rating and an 11 percent share in adults 18-49. Hosted by Jerry Springer,
the talent competition for singers, dancers, comedians and other entertainers
has improved the Tuesday 8-9:30 p.m. time slot by 21 percent in adults 18-49 as
compared with last summer.

In the Wednesday 9-10 p.m. timeslot, NBC is riding a
six-month high due to Last Comic Standing’s
success. The series is delivering a 2.8/8 percent share in the 18-49 demo, with
6.7 million viewers overall this summer. Produced by Peter Engel Productions,
Magical Elves and Universal Media Studios, and hosted by Bill Bellamy, Last
Comic Standing
has scoured nightclubs and
held auditions around the world to find the most talented new comedians.
