NBC Issues Early Renewal for Medium

BURBANK, May 8: NBC has renewed the acclaimed prime-time
drama series Medium for a fourth season.

This season, Medium
is averaging a 3.0 rating and 8 percent audience share among adults aged 18-49
and 8.5 million viewers overall. The series currently airs on Wednesdays in the
10-11 p.m. slot, and has built on its 18-49 lead-in from Crossing
Jordan
by 37 percent.

From acclaimed executive producer, creator and director
Glenn Gordon Caron (Moonlighting), Medium
is inspired by the real-life story of
research medium Allison DuBois. The series stars Emmy Award winner Patricia
Arquette (Stigmata, Flirting
with Disaster
) as Allison, a young wife and
mother who has been struggling—since childhood—to make sense of her
dreams and visions of dead people. As a part-time consultant to the district
attorney's office, Allison uses her psychic abilities—which consist of
talking to dead people as well as seeing the future in her dreams—to
solve violent and horrifying crimes that have remained mysteries to her boss
D.A. Devalos, played by Miguel Sandoval (The Division). Arquette received the Emmy in the Outstanding Lead
Actress in a Drama Series category after the telecast of the initial 16
episodes of the series. She has also been nominated for a Golden Globe and
Screen Actor's Guild award in 2007 for her performances on the show. Medium is produced by CBS Paramount Network Television,
Picturemaker Productions, Inc. in association with and Grammnet Productions.
CBS Paramount International Television distributes it internationally.

"Medium is a
quality show with an outstanding star that has always delivered a very loyal
audience," said Kevin Reilly, the president of NBC Entertainment. "We
are pleased to know that we can look forward to more of its unique storytelling
next year under executive producer Glenn Gordon Caron's superb creative
vision."
