MTVNI Signs Up Broadcasters for Gigantic

LONDON: The new TeenNick dramedy Gigantic has been sold into Brazil and Canada by MTV Networks International (MTVNI), which also notched up sales from its scripted reality genre and tween catalogue.

The 18-episode series debuted in the U.S. in April 2010 and has been picked up by Brazil’s Globosat and Canada’s YTV. The show takes a fictional look at the life of a Hollywood "it" kid.

Also from the teen category, American Mall, centered on a teenager whose mom runs a mall music store, has been sold to China’s Henry Advertising. The hit live-action tween series Zoey 101, featuring Jamie Lynn Spears, was picked up by Ecuador’s Ecuavisa. Drake and Josh, a sitcom about stepbrothers, is headed to Kazakhstan on CH31. The hit iCarly was renewed by RTE in Ireland.

From MTVNI’s scripted reality slate, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, which follows the lives of teenagers from California, is airing on RTL in the Netherlands. Its sequel, The Hills has been sold to TV3 in Slovenia.
