MTVNI Inks Raft of Deals for Reality TV

LONDON: MTV Networks International (MTVNI) has signed a number of deals for shows in its reality-TV catalogue.

In Latin America, Panama’s Medcom has snapped up MTV’s prank show Boiling Point, while Brazil’s Globosat has acquired the second season of MTV’s racing series Nitro Circus and the youth-focused diversity series If You Really Knew Me.

The second seasons of the physical-endurance show Fist of Zen and Nitro Circus have been taken by Chile’s Chilevision.

In Canada, Much Music has picked up season two of Viva La Bam, which centers on the life of skateboarder Bam Margera, as well as re-scored episodes from season one. Musique Plus has signed on for seasons one and two of Nitro Circus.

In other news, Lauren Marriott has been named the director of program sales for North MTVNI.

Marriott was previously the sales manager for international program sales, responsible for sales across the MTVNI portfolio in Northern Europe. In her new role, Marriott will provide sales and management leadership across the North region, with a focus on program sales, channel blocks and developing local formats.

Under Marriott’s leadership, a number of sales have been secured across the programming portfolio. In Norway, TV2 Zebra and TV2 Bliss have snapped up BET’s reality fire-fighting series First In and VH1’s Bridal Bootcamp. TV2 has also picked up season 15 of South Park.

In Denmark, TV2 is airing the first season of the hidden-camera series Prank’d.

Jim TV in Finland has relicensed South Park episodes one through ten and signed a new deal for the series’ episodes 13 and 14. The Finish broadcaster has signed a new deal for the Comedy Central Roast of David Hasselhoff.

Finally, Switzerland’s SF television station has snapped up VH1 Unplugged featuring The Script, while TSR has relicensed season one of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
