MTV Launches in Ukraine

KIEV/LONDON, September 4: MTV Networks International (MTVNI)
has launched MTV Ukraine, a dedicated 24-hour cable and satellite channel and
website for local audiences.

The launch is part of a multiyear licensing agreement with
Horizon Capital, a leading private equity fund manager in Ukraine, and
highlights MTVNI’s commitment to growth in emerging markets. The
advertiser-supported network will be seen in 3 million households throughout
the region. Ukrainian producer and composer Yevgen Stupka has been tapped to
lead MTV Ukraine as its general manager.

MTV Ukraine aims to provide youth with the best local and
international music videos and lifestyle programming that reflects local tastes
and interests as well as supports the nation’s music industry. The first music
video shown on the channel was “Tantsi” by the
Ukrainian band Vopli Vidoplyasova. Local programming to be featured on MTV
Ukraine will include the flagship show MTV Ukraine Top 20, consisting of local and international music videos
presented by a local VJ; daily and extended weekend editions of MTV
News
; the four-hour daily show Day
MTV
, showcasing long-form programming as
well as music videos; and the daily one-hour show Rock Ukraine, highlighting 12 emerging and established Ukrainian
bands.

A variety of popular programs from MTVN’s global library
will also be dubbed in Ukrainian, including South Park, Beavis & Butt-head, Pimp My Ride, Punk’d and MTV
Unplugged
, among others.
