MTV Asia Postpones Movie Awards

SINGAPORE, July 26: MTV Networks Asia Pacific has postponed its
first ever MTV Asia Movie Awards, originally
slated to take place October 6 in Singapore, due to “scheduling issues,” the
company said today.

The announcement comes just over a month since MTV Networks
Asia Pacific unveiled plans for the inaugural event, which was to be staged
under a S$50-million strategic alliance with the Singapore Tourism Board.

MTV says it is currently in discussions with its
partners—including the Singapore Tourism Board, sponsors and film and
record companies—about the future of the event. “The decision to postpone
the MTV Asia Movie Awards was not taken lightly,” said Nigel Robbins, the
president of MTV Networks Asia-Pacific stated. “We are examining ways to
deliver a show that is second to none at a later date. Our first priority to
our audience, sponsors and the film and record industry is to deliver a
top-notch, star-studded MTV event.”
