MPA Ups Execs for EMEA, Asia

WASHINGTON, D.C., March
26: The Motion Picture Association (MPA) has promoted Christopher P. Marcich to
oversee its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, while Michael C.
Ellis has been elevated to run the Asia-Pacific activities.

Marcich is now the
president and managing director for the MPA in EMEA, He is a 13-year veteran of
the association’s EMEA activities, previously serving as senior VP and managing
director for MPA in the region. Marcich will oversee commercial developments in
the region, guide development and implementation of anti-piracy strategies, advocate
for digital-rights management and pursue collaborative efforts to promote
intellectual property rights. As president, he will serve as the MPA’s voice in
the region and in a number of international organizations. He will report
directly to MPA’s president and COO, Bob Pisano.

Ellis, meanwhile, has been
promoted to president and managing director of its Asia-Pacific operations.
Ellis is a former litigator and law-enforcement veteran and has served as an
MPA executive in the region since 1999. He will be responsible for continuing
to develop cohesive strategic approaches to addressing piracy and for promoting
MPA member companies’ commercial interests by securing greater copyright
protection and market access throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Ellis manages
operations in 14 countries, working with law enforcement and local governments
and is the key political representative for the MPA in Asia Pacific. He too
reports to Pisano.
