More Taboo for NGCI

SYDNEY: Beyond Distribution has licensed the fifth season of Taboo to National Geographic Channels International for rollout in 164 countries beginning this August.

Greece’s SKAI TV also took the 15-part fifth season, as did MediaCorp in Singapore. The show, from Beyond Productions, explores the extreme culture and practices of sub-cultures around the world.

Taboo has been a consistent ratings success on National Geographic Channel, taking viewers on a provocative journey across social norms and cultural borders. It explores rituals and customs acceptable to some, but forbidden or illegal for others, examining these practices from a variety of perspectives,” said Carlyn Staudt, the senior VP of global acquisitions for NGCI.

Munia Kanna-Konsek, the head of sales for Beyond Distribution, added: “It’s wonderful to see the continued commitment from major broadcasters. The program is extreme in every way and is quite spectacular viewing in HD.”
