ER Shores Up European Deals for Transformers Animated

LONDON, January 14: Entertainment Rights (ER) has closed
broadcast agreements for the 2-D series Transformers Animated with broadcasters in the U.K., France and in Germany.

ER has sold 26 22-minute episodes plus a 70-minute special
episode of the series to Nickelodeon in the U.K., Gulli in France and Super RTL
in Germany. These new deals follow on the successful premiere of the series in
the U.S. on Cartoon Network, where it is the highest rated children’s cable
program in its slot. ER has inked agreements in more than 24 territories, with
a number of key deals still in negotiation.

Transformers Animated features
new characters alongside legendary favorites such as Optimus Prime and
Megatron, and follows the success of the original brand that was launched in
1984 and centers on the struggle between the Autobots and Decepticons.

Sam Register (Ben 10, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Teen Titans) is the executive producer, Matt Youngberg (Teen
Titans, Batman
) is the supervising director
and Vincent Aniceto (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Power Puff
Girls
) is the line producer, with Marty
Isenberg (Danny Phantom, A.T.O.M, X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) as head writer. Derrick Wyatt, the character
designer for the popular Teen Titans
series, is the lead designer.

“We have had an overwhelming interest from international
broadcasters post MIPCOM for the new Transformers Animated series. We recently extended distribution rights to
include Latin America, where broadcasters are also showing great demand for the
series, and we expect to announce new agreements in due course. The recent
agreements with European broadcasters demonstrate ER’s success at securing
premiere television platforms for the franchise around the world.”
