More Sales for Southern Star Dramas

SYDNEY: AXN Central Europe picked up the action drama Rush, along with All Saints and Water Rats, from Southern Star International.

AXN Central Europe acquired seasons one and two of Rush, a one-hour drama that looks at police under pressure. Seasons five through seven of All Saints were also included in the deal. Produced by Seven Network Australia, the one-hour medical drama focuses on the working and personal lives of the doctors and nurses at All Saints Hospital. Water Rats also received a pickup. The police drama is set in Sydney and was produced by Southern Star Entertainment for Nine Network Australia.

Eva Kis-Bocz, the acquisitions manager for AXN Central Europe, said: "AXN CE is happy to air Rush, this brand new, action-packed Australian drama on the branded Thursday night called Crime Night; this title will be a great addition to this well-performing night’s lineup."

She continued: "After the rating success of several medical dramas on AXN, the channel’s programming decision was to air Australia’s favourite medical title, All Saints, weekdays, daytime. Water Rats was aired previously on AXN and AXN Crime; because of it’s success the show was re-licensed to repeat it in 2009 again. AXN CE is proud to announce that these shows will be available online as well, as with a catch-up TV window, after the broadcast premiere each episode will be streamed on the channel’s website for seven days; this great opportunity will be part of the AXN brand’s new-media expansion."
