More Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva for Lifetime

LOS ANGELES: Lifetime Television has renewed the hit scripted series Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva, for a fifth and third season, respectively.

The shows will return in 2011 with 13 new episodes each. Army Wives follows a diverse group of women and one man who are living with their spouses and families on an active army post. The show marks Lifetime’s most successful series in its 26-year history.

Drop Dead Diva tells the story of a shallow aspiring model who dies in a sudden accident as is brought back to life in the body of a plus-sized attorney. The second season of the series was seen by more than 49.9 million total viewers.

Nancy Dubuc, the president and general manager of Lifetime Networks and HISTORY, said, “Army Wives and Drop Dead Diva have led Lifetime’s charge in scripted programming and are key components to our success. We are so happy with these two special programs and are excited to pick them up for new seasons, which allows us to launch our next generation of scripted series.”
