MoonScoop on Board for DQE’s Jungle Book

HYDERABAD/PARIS: DQ Entertainment (DQE) has signed a co-production deal with MoonScoop for its new 3-D animated series The Jungle Book, budgeted at 9.2 million euros.

Based on the Rudyard Kipling classic, the 52×11-minute show, unveiled at MIPCOM, has also scored ZDF, ZDF Enterprises and TF1 as co-pro partners. Universal is a partner for home-video distribution in selected territories on the property, which also includes an hour-long TV special. DQE and MoonScoop previously worked together on such properties as The Fantastic Four, Twisted Whiskers and Todd World.

Announcing the deal, Tapaas Chakravarti, the chairman and CEO of DQE Group and principal producer on Jungle Book, noted: “This powerful alliance with MoonScoop is not only helping to close the budget for our Jungle Book but is also testimony to our promise to produce several TV series and movies together. DQE group now is at rest that this amazingly beautiful series will have a boost in its quality and production efficiencies with the combined forces of ZDF Group Germany, Moonscoop-TF1 combine from France, and DQE group.” 

Christophe di Sabatino, the executive chairman of MoonScoop, added: “Jungle Book is an iconic and well-loved property and to be involved in bringing it to television is a real privilege.
