Monte-Carlo TV Festival Opens

MONTE CARLO, June
11: HBO was awarded the Golden Nymph award during the opening ceremony of the
47th Monte-Carlo Television Festival last night.

Prince Albert II,
who officially opened the 47th Monte-Carlo Television Festival at the
Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo,
presented the award to Samantha Martin, the VP of HBO Films, and
executive producers Tom Thayer and Dick Wolf. The award presentation was
followed by the European premiere screening of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, which was executive produced by Wolf.

During the opening ceremony, Prince Albert II also
introduced distinguished jury members who will screen nominated entries and
eventually decide the recipients of this year’s other Golden Nymph Awards. This
year’s jury presidents include Morgan Wandell, the senior VP of drama
development at ABC Studios; the award-winning British director Jack Gold; and
Pascal Breton, the CEO of Marathon Group. Other jury members include John Hyde
of Starz Media; Hiroshi Kataoka of NHK; Jules Burns of All3Media; producer Tim
Gibbons; Jee-Yeong Choi of KBS Korea; the actress Sydne Rome; and Miklós
Szinetár of MTV Hungary.

Cast members from hit U.S. series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes,
House, Criminal Minds, Without A Trace, Lost,
Ugly Betty, CSI, 24, NCIS, Prison Break, and Brothers and Sisters,
will be present at the festival, along with a plethora of French and
international stars.
