Monte Carlo TV Festival Announces Nominees

MONACO: A total of 21 programs from 11 countries have been nominated for Golden Nymph awards, among them the U.S. comedies 30 Rock, Glee and Modern Family, at the 51st annual Monte Carlo Television Festival, which is scheduled for June 6 to 10.

Additional comedies include Call Me Fitz from Canada, Trivia from Ireland, and Life, Uncorked! from Switzerland. Among the nominees in the drama category are Durham County and Rookie Blue from Canada; The Borgias and The Tudors from Ireland; Jacob’s Cross from South Africa; Downton Abbey, Misfits and The Adventures of Merlin from the U.K.; and Dexter, Lost and Mad Men from the U.S. The TV movies up for consideration include Death of a President and Mademoiselle from France, Defenseless and Kongo from Germany, and Edda Ciano and the Communist Man from Italy. In mini-series, contenders include The Kennedys from Canada, Carlos and Tony’s Revenge from France, The Queens of Swing from Italy, South Riding and The Sinking of the Laconia from the U.K., and The Pillars of the Earth from the U.S.
