Monarch Rolls Out PBS 9/11 Documentary

JERSEY CITY, August 16:
Monarch Films has sold the documentary America Rebuilds II: Return to Ground
Zero
to NHK in Japan and Taiwan’s
Public Television Service, with other sales pending.

The one-hour documentary
will air on PBS stations in the U.S. on September 11 in commemoration of the
9/11 attacks. Narrated by Law and Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay, the film charts the rebuilding
of the World Trade Center area. According to Monarch, the film covers “the
inside story of engineers, developers and architects as they work with
politicians, residents and victims’ families [in order to] build a new and
larger World Trade Center from the wreckage of Ground Zero.”

Explored are the first two
major rebuilding projects that were completed: the rebuilding of the PATH train
system underneath the WTC, and the reclamation of 7 World Trade Center, one of
the buildings that wasn’t destroyed but was severely damaged on 9/11. The film
also focuses on the lives of those touched by the attack, including the father
of a New York City firefighter who lost his life in the rescue operations. The
father now conducts educational tours for young people on the site of Ground
Zero.
