NEW YORK, April 14:
Revenues at NBC Universal for the three months ended March 31, 2008, gained 3
percent to $3.58 billion, while segment profit also rose 3 percent to $712
million.

The results were revealed
as part of parent company GE’s first quarter 2008 financial statements. Earnings
from continuing operations were $4.4 billion, down 12 percent from first
quarter 2007. First quarter net earnings were $4.3 billion, down 2 percent.
Revenues from continuing operations were $42.2 billion, up 8 percent.

“Demand for our global
infrastructure business remained strong, but our financial services businesses
were challenged by a slowing U.S. economy and difficult capital markets,” Jeff
Immelt, GE’s chairman and CEO, said. “While we are disappointed with our
results, the fundamentals of our businesses are strong.”

Referring to NBC
Universal’s results, Immelt cited the division’s “sixth straight quarter of
profit growth.”
