Co-Presidents

Regent Worldwide Sales

With a slate of about 15 to 20 new movies a year, Regent Worldwide Sales, home to a library of some 3,500 titles, has become one of the biggest distributors of TV movies to the global market. It’s a position that the company expects to retain, but under its new co-presidents, Meggan Kimberley and Adam Wright, the division of Regent Entertainment is also looking to diversify its catalogue. “Part of our focus will be to search for quality acquisitions and expand the breadth of our content,” says Wright, who joined Regent this past January following a number of years at PorchLight Entertainment.

Wright is also leading the charge into some new markets for Regent, including targeting the U.S. Hispanic outlets, now that the company has about 25 features dubbed into Spanish. “The L.A. Screenings will be a really good launch pad for that type of package,” adds Kimberley, noting that Regent is also focused on increasing sales to Latin America, after building strong ties with broadcasters in Mexico and Brazil. Kimberley also has her eye on the Central and Eastern European markets, and is maintaining successful relationships with networks in France, Spain and other Western European territories. “We have very strong relationships with TF1 in France and Antena 3 in Spain. The U.K. and Italy’s free-TV market continues to be challenging, but Europe is still a big focus for us.”

Action-disaster features remain a core part of the Regent offering, alongside holiday films and romantic comedies, with an emphasis on strong stories, recognizable casts and, in the case of the disaster features, a host of special effects.

As Kimberley and Wright continue to develop alliances with international broadcasters and expand the catalogue through third-party acquisitions, they will be tapping into years of experience in the feature film and TV movie worlds. Wright’s 20-year career includes stints at Turner Pictures and Rysher Entertainment before he landed at PorchLight. Kimberley began in the theatrical world and then went on to start the international division at Rysher—where she worked for a time with Wright. She has been with Regent now for almost a decade.

They will both be leading sales on Regent’s catalogue at MIPTV, showcasing action-disaster movies like Lava Storm, Solar Destruction and Nuclear Hurricane, the holiday feature Christmas Caper, a romantic comedy called 7 Things to do Before I’m 30, and the thriller The Delphi Effect, among others.
