MediaCorp’s MOBTV.sg to Debut New Prime-Time Series

SINGAPORE, May 23: Next
month, MOBTV.sg, MediaCorp’s subscription video-on-demand platform, will make
its original TV drama, A Mobile Love Story, available to its customers for free online streaming ahead of its
scheduled free-to-air telecast this September.

The first ten episodes
will debut online on June 1, followed by the next ten episodes in July. The
free online streaming is sponsored by the Follow Me range of toiletries. Under
the arrangement, Follow Me will be given presence on the streaming page as well
as a pre-roll message before each episode.

A joint production between
MediaCorp and Beijing Yibo Production Co., A Mobile Love Story is a romantic drama about colleagues who fall in
love through mobile text messages sent by mistake. The series stars Christopher
Lee, Han Xue, Yvonne Lim and Wallace How.

“We’re very excited about
this move as it is the first time in the world an entire made-for-television
prime-time series has been offered online for free before broadcast,” said Chang
Long Jong, the deputy CEO of TV at MediaCorp. “In doing so, we are
promoting the effectiveness of our own online media in distributing compelling
content which we have jointly produced. It’s a case of tried-and-tested
production methods being given extended reach through our combination of
platforms and appealing across generations.”

Added Khiew Voon Kwang,
the senior VP of network programming and promotions at MediaCorp TV, “MOBTV.sg
over its short life span has become a household name with an effective
infrastructure to deliver digital video content. Much of the appeal of MOBTV.sg
is from its offering of MediaCorp productions with new and library titles.
MOBTV.sg utilizes the best of our content and technological advantage to
deliver entertainment to our audiences, any time and anywhere they want.”
