MediaCorp to Host Public Broadcasters Summit in Singapore

SINGAPORE: MediaCorp is set to host the 20th-anniversary conference for the Public Broadcasters International (PBI) 2011, taking place in Singapore from October 26 to 29.

PBI 2011 will focus in funding issues, strategies to navigate the digital age, the impact of new media, the digital switchover and the role of public broadcasters in extreme situations such as earthquakes and other natural disasters. The event is held at Resorts World Sentosa.

Paula Kerger, the president and CEO of Public Broadcast Service (USA), will be delivering the keynote speech. Other speakers include Christine Wilson, the executive director of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; José Marquitos, the VP of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal; and representatives from British Broadcasting Corporation, France Télévisions and Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK).

Partners for PBI 2011 include Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
