MediaCorp Selects Proposals for Funding

SINGAPORE: MediaCorp has received more than 500 proposals since the June launch of its $5 million Content Innovation Fund, which is to provide funding for the development of six projects recently selected.

Thirty percent of the project proposals, which may be commissioned for MediaCorp media platforms, came from Australia, China, India, Malaysia, the U.K. and the Philippines. Six projects were selected to received pilot funding between S$15,000 and S$50,000.

Play This Mystery, an interactive drama/game show, was chosen as one of the projects to receive funding. It features MediaCorp celebrities playing characters, theatrical special effects and a realistic set. The animated Animal in Me, also picked, features the adventures of an 8-year-old orphan with the ability to transform himself into various animals and speak their languages.

Also chosen for funding are The Potential, a reality series that gives entrepreneurs a chance to raise funds and win $30,000 for the development of their products by pitching and pre-selling it to the masses via television; the sitcom Do It or Else, a mockumentary on the workings of a fictitious government department in ’60s Singapore; and the game show Just Search It, which challenges people on the street to solve every day puzzles like fixing a CPU or completing the Rubik’s Cube. The infotainment series selected, Channel News Kids, is a new role-playing experience for kids.
