LONDON: BBC Worldwide Content & Production has named Matt Paice to the role of executive VP of international production.

Paice comes to the new role from Diverse (Zodiak Entertainment), where he spent five years as executive producer on such commissions as Beat the Star and Election. He previously served as commissioning editor for Sky1 and prior to that was the controller of Bravo.

In his new role, Paice will oversee a format sales and development team in London; production studios in India and France; joint ventures in Germany, Canada, Argentina and Australia; partnerships in Russia and Brazil; and work closely with BBC Worldwide’s U.S. studios. Paice begins his role in May, taking over from Colin Jarvis, who steps down this summer. Paice will report to Wayne Garvie, the managing director for BBC Worldwide Content & Production.

Garvie said, “We’ve spent the past two years establishing a formidable network of studios and partnerships around the world. Our next focus is building up these businesses through format development, increasing our commissions and ramping up production. Matt brings very impressive experience from both sides of the commissioning process so is perfectly placed to lead the team into this new phase.”

Paice added, “BBC Worldwide’s global production business is both renowned and admired in the industry—taking the helm at this new stage of its development is very thrilling and a challenge I can’t wait to begin.”
